On behalf of The International Traditional Karate Federation
(ITKF), I am honored to anounce the 11th World
Traditional Karate Championship being held October 12-13, 2002 in
Belgrade, Yugoslavia. |

Traditional Karate is a physical and mental disciopline that evolved in
Japan as a form of self-defense without weapons. The purpose of
Tradiotional Karate is to develop greater concentration,
self-discipline, and more stable emotions through rigorous training..
Recognized worldwide for its great range benefits, Traditional Karate
today has become one of the world's most popular physical arts.
The host country of this year's World Championship is Yugoslavia,
one of the first countries to begin practicing Traditional Karate and
one of the founding members of ITKF. Since Yugoslavia established a
federation, it has been center of international Traditional Karate
activities.
Participants in the world Championship are top athletes acting as
representatives of their countries just as all judges are top
qualityofficialswho have been specially selected by ITKFfor this
important event. Consequently, we expect all participants to demonstrate
the highest ideals of Traditional Karate spirit.
On behalf of ITKF, I would like to extend our sincere appreciation
to all of the supporters of this historic event. We especially would
like to thank Yugoslavia and the people of Belgrade for their warm
hospitality, as well as the tournament organizing commitee for its
efforts in setting up this great event.

MESSAGE OF PEACE
Athletes of the International Traditional Karate Federation (ITKF) from
all over the world will meet, for the eleventh time in the history of
ITKF, in Belgrade on October 12 and 13, 2002, to present their creativity
and art of karate sport. Dear Sports Friends, We invite you to come to
Belgrade in peace - to the City of open heart for all people of good will,
for all athletes of the world, regardless of their religion, race, creed
or political belief. Esteemed representatives of National Traditional
Karate Federations, we assure you that you, your wonderful athletes, their
coaches, judges and arbitres, doctors, journalists and all your friends
you bring to Belgrade will be absolutely safe and sound, provided with
the best possible training and competition conditions, all in accordance
with the ITKF Rules and Regulations. We will do everything to provide
a pleasant stay in our City, attractive tourist, shopping, cultural and
entertainment events, an interesting program.
In the period from October
7-13, 2002, Belgrade will be the capital of traditional karate of the
world, host and organizer of the greatest event in the ITKF Statutes.
We invite you to come and prove this is true. We invite you to bring your
friends with you to cheer for you and make this joint World Championships
the greatest event of all.
